Bathroom Talk with Laura Vidrequin Roso

Free-spirited, intuitive and a born dreamer, Laura Vidrequin Roso is one of those radiant women with a modern take on self-care. Minimalist in the way she looks after herself, she embraces a deeply personal vision of beauty, one shaped by time, experience, and the cities that have made her. A perspective far from clichés and societal pressures. Meet the passionate brand Consultant and stylist redefining beauty on her own terms.

Tell us all about yourself?

“My name is Laura Vidrequin Roso, I am born Pisces rising, Libra sun. I am a daydreamer, and would find myself in funny situations due to that personality trait. I am extremely clumsy.  I grew up in Paris and left as a young adult for New York, where I had my first work experience, in a fashion showroom as a sales assistant. I spent almost a decade in the city, and now, fast forward 18 years later, I live in London with my 2 boys, Albert and Henry, and my husband Harold."

"I am a terrible cook, so we like to host with take-away, mostly due to the fact that I have no relationship in either shape or form with time, so it's often not ready at all, or cold. After being a buyer for big corporate companies, I took the entrepreneurship journey, building a resale platform dedicated to kids' clothes and toys. I am working as a stylist and fashion consultant for brands I believe in. I am very grateful to be able to navigate my weeks between the kids and work, juggling between professional deadlines and travel, as well as the kids’ busy schedule.”

At 18, you leapt from Paris into the fast lane of fashion. What did your teenage self think ‘success’ looked like?

"That’s a great question, and one I think a lot about. The young me was extremely eager to have as much ground working experience, I was always up for the new task, the internship in the States or the extra job on the sales floor. Being busy, over-saturated with an overwhelming schedule, juggling between friends and work life made me feel completely alive, probably the New York lifestyle after all, which I had to accept as soon as I got there. I am lucky to have learnt the job with very inspiring women, and I was drawn to their capability of holding a strong opinion and being able to express it in front of an audience, with kindness."

"That is today a form of success for me, because it touches all areas of my life. With time and experience, being able today to hold a private and professional life, and combine both, is a form of success. While I always wanted more responsibility and tasks as a younger professional, today, I see success as being able to say no and hold boundaries."

How do you define beauty and self-care today?

"I am a very visual person; if you tell me beauty, I think smiling with one’s entire body, I also see peace in someone’s eyes or look. Wellness is very close to inner peace, individuality, perception and of course, self-love. I also firmly believe that self-care recipes are very personal and individual. Tolerance to accept that we might not need, want or do the same thing as others is extremely important to stop comparing."

Have you always been intentional about caring for your skin?

"100 %! I am terrible at makeup, but really interested in treating the challenge I face at its core. I never look at ways to hide or change one’s look; I just would not be able to keep up with it anyway. As a kid from the nineties, we were not told to protect ourselves from the sun as much, which I now do. I remember my grandmother being extremely coquettish and never leaving the house without a last touch in the mirror. I wish I were that mindful. I always carry lip balm, hand cream and SPF, though, that's the highest maintenance I could get."

What are your beauty must-haves?

Patyka for the Brightening Micro Peeling Essence, I really love it. I am also a very good dry brusher. I don't brush my hair, but comb it when I wash it. I love baths with Epsom salt in it. I massage my face all the time with oils and serums, but was told by the dermatologist I should rely on day cream more, so I am adding Avene now every day. I love washing my face with a foaming cleansing on and off from Dior or the Patyka Detox Cleansing Foam, which I got at Oh My Cream."

Paris, New York, London… How did each city influence your understanding of self‑care?

"I really believe places you have lived and travelled in shape you, and make us who we are. I am definitely a bit of the 3, in some very minor or mega ways, and the way I approach self-care is 100% a reflection of it. I have a low-maintenance appearance because I choose my products with the utmost care and understanding of my skin and its challenges. At the age of 20, we were already juggling yoga jivamutki, SoulCycle and Bikram. I got exposed to wellness there quite young, and doing exercise with Taryn, who built The Class, was part of our routine, which I am so grateful I had. Having grown up in Paris, I got exposed to the pharmacy skincare approach, and to this day, I still trust them for my daily routine."

Has your skincare and self‑care routine evolved since becoming a mom?

"Honestly, no. It has evolved with time and age. I am much more cautious about what I do now that I am 35. Being a parent has had no impact on my beauty routine, except that I am quicker, more efficient, and better at it. But in my constant acceptance that I am so “throw on and go”. "

What has motherhood taught you about confidence, slowing down or redefining self‑care?

"Tolerance, not reacting, and taking time are key factors I never took into consideration before I had kids, or not as heavily. Self-care is fundamental to being able to care for them (the kids) too."

What are the non‑negotiable pillars of your self‑care?

"I move a lot, being a mom of boys, I never stop, because they don't. I walk the kids to school every morning, and the drop-off is the most favourite part of my day. It takes 20 minutes to get to school, walking, rain or shine, and I usually walk 40 minutes on my way back, often with a good friend of mine, as I am lucky to be very close with some moms from school. That gives me a 1-hour walk every morning. When I don't drink broth, I drink warm water and lemon in the morning."

"Decluttering is also extremely important for me; I really am a firm believer that your space reflects your frequency, and lastly, writing. Whether it's on a notepad, on a napkin, or writing while on the bus, I really love that outlet. I have been better at drinking A LOT of fluids, to help detoxify, and in the summer, I had some electrolytes, I use Combeau."

What is the daily habit that has made a difference in how you feel?

"Check with your doctor before following this, because there are a lot of different types of supplements. Magnesium is helping a lot with overall physical feel, a warm drink that is not coffee or tea in the morning, first thing."

What quick ritual or product turns your bathroom break into a mini‑retreat?

"Dry brush my body, while having an eye and lip mask on, then roll on my face with some oil, spray my hair with Sisley oil, comb it, brush my eyebrows and trip it."

What’s one beauty ritual or product you’d recommend every busy woman try at least once, and how can our readers get started with it?

"Start your morning with a warm drink that is not coffee, nor tea, but just broth or lemon water, which is for the ritual part. It is a big game-changer for me. Avene Cicalfate is a product I have never gotten away from, and it works for the whole family. Easy and very hydrating."

If you could give your younger self one piece of beauty or self‑care advice, what would it be and why?

"The earlier you prevent, the later you will fix. Go to the dermatologist, and the doctors’ regularly, hydrate skin and body, and more importantly, don't stress about any of it. Try to step back and look at the big picture. What would the 80-year-old you say if she were seeing you right now? Laugh about it, and let it go if it brings anxiety. Breath through it. Remember, as well, you may have lots of worries, but when there is a health concern, there is just that one big worry. So take care of yourself and your loved ones."
