Bathroom Talk with Dolores Doll, founder of Ivine
Model, entrepreneur and founder of the nail polishes and stickers brand, Ivine, Dolorès Doll is undoubtedly one of those sunny personalities who inspire us both with their glow and their ability to multiply beautiful projects. Let's meet this creator and fan of clean beauty...
Why a nail polish brand?
When I was a model, I discovered what goes on behind the scenes in this profession: the artistic directors, the photographers, the makeup artists and so on. And this aspect of the shoots always made me want to do something. So I wanted to create something of my own and not just model, which is why I don't model for my brand, if at all, because I want to break away from modelling. I've been wearing nail polish since I was 14. Sometimes I change them every day to match my outfit. When I'm not wearing nail varnish, I don't feel like myself, so creating a nail polish brand was an obvious choice. But the real reason was that after a trip to Japan, with my obsession for nails, I couldn't find what I wanted on the market, so I decided to create a brand that offered a new approach to nail art.
Maison Kitsuné, Longchamp, Ganni... Ivine collaborations are always dreamy! Can you tell us more about the creative process?
I'm lucky enough to have been contacted by all these brands to work on very specific projects with super-inspiring themes each time. For Longchamp, for example, it was to accompany them in their Energy events with an Ivine nail bar all over the world. The theme was sport. Using the colours of the collection, their symbols and our best-sellers, we came up with a board representing their FW24 collection. For Maison Kitsuné, the theme was Los Angeles. In the same process, we took their emblematic symbol: the foxes, and added sunsets, drinks, etc. to enter the world of the collection. It's important to me that the collaboration is always around an event, which has been the case every time. The collaborations with Ivine are endless because we can adapt to any brand and still keep our identity, but I'm very selective about the brands I work with. What's more, future collaborations will probably be with artists rather than brands, which will multiply the number of possible collaborations even more.
How do you manage to keep time for yourself?
I don't have many, so I tell myself that it's a period that will pass. I love my job, my role as a mother, so that gives me energy.
What's your first beauty memory?
The first time I had a manicure and the feeling I left with beautiful hands.
What helps you feel good about yourself?
Motherhood gave me self-confidence.
Getting back to Ivine, what do you see for the future of your brand?
I've got a lot of things coming out in 2025 and I'm working on opening a salon. Stay tuned!
