A Neuroscience Expert's Guide to Self-Care and Living Well

In a world obsessed with perfection, true wellness can feel just out of reach. But for Eva Sity, a neuroscience expert and yoga teacher whose practice interweaves yoga, sound, and breathwork, living well isn’t about chasing the next trend: it’s about creating space for the nervous system to feel alive. We caught up with her to learn more about her inspiring beauty and self-care vision, her thoughts on longevity and her daily mindful rituals.

Tell us everything about yourself

“I’m a 600-hour yoga teacher and neuroscience-informed wellness facilitator blending ancient wisdom with modern science. I’ve developed my own object meditation frameworka tangible approach to regulation that helps people build a sense of safety through movement, breath, and sensory awareness. With a background in marketing and PR, I adapt traditional practices to meet the modern nervous system, making them more accessible, inclusive, and relevant, so people feel safe enough to explore what may feel uncomfortable, yet ultimately transformative.”

What sparked your journey to guiding others through neuroscience, yoga, and sound healing?

“I began this journey through my own experience of liberation, from society’s stories, expectations, and the quiet pressure to become someone I wasn’t. I realised that when the nervous system feels safe, the mind loosens its grip on identity and control. Through yoga, sound, and breath, I didn’t find new answers; I remembered the ones already living within me.I believe we don’t need fixing; we need space. Sometimes, the most powerful shift happens when someone simply co-regulates with us… when someone holds the space long enough for our system to trust its own wisdom again.”

How has your definition of beauty changed?

“I’ve come to believe beauty is deeply linked to perception, and perception is shaped by the nervous system. How I feel internally changes how I see myself externally, and vice versa. Instead of outsourcing authority, I listen. I slow down and notice what my body tells me through sensation — often before I can logically explain it. I trust what feels supportive, even if I don’t fully understand why. For me now, beauty is not performance, it’s relationship.”

How did your personal wellness journey influence how you approach beauty and self-care today?

“I learned that if my cup isn’t full, my nervous system shifts into survival mode — and from there, I can’t show up fully for anyone.I now believe self-care is regulation, not indulgence. Blocking time in my calendar for rest teaches my system that a pause is safe. I’m still unlearning guilt around it, but investing in care is investing in capacity.”

What makes your practice so unique?

“I believe ancient practices like yoga, breathwork, and meditation can feel intangible — even “woo” — until we understand what they’re doing in the brain and body. When I connect these practices to neuroscience — to nervous system regulation, neural pathways, and stress responses — I see resistance soften. The mind commits when it understands. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Each nervous system is shaped by its own story. I honour that uniqueness as a privilege, not a problem — and adapt my approach so people feel met where they are, not where they think they should be.”

How do you take care of yourself and your skin?

“I moved from complexity to consistency. I believe routine gives the brain predictability and predictability signals safety. My morning ritual is the Oh My Cream Skincare Cleansing Foam, the  Plumping Face Oil and the Firming Rich Cream and then SPF, which helps me start the day. My evening ritual is a Plumping Serum, the Firming Rich Cream, which helps me release it. These small acts aren’t just skincare, they are state transitions for my nervous system.”

Do you have non-negotiable rituals?

“I rely on touch-based rituals like face oil, such as the Plumping Oil, and gua sha. I believe touch is one of the fastest ways to calm the nervous system, stimulating lymphatic flow while gently activating the vagus nerve. Even three minutes can shift how I feel. Double cleansing has also become a symbolic boundary, a way of telling my system the day is complete. Felling clean, fresh base, day washed away.”

Your “secret recipe” for living well?

“I don’t believe there is one. Each nervous system finds regulation differently. For me, it’s often nature, stillness, and attention, a coffee without my phone, watching life move. I believe attention is medicine. We don’t always need more; we need presence. I support my mind through movement and reflection. I choose twice a week strength training that supports cognition. Twice a week yoga tp reconnect mind and body. I meditate 10 minutes daily to build flexibility in attention. Daily morning and evening journaling helps my brain release unfinished loops instead of rehearsing them. I believe these small daily signals teach the nervous system that it is safe to live the life it once only imagined.”

What does longevity mean to you?

“I believe longevity is not about living longer but living with clarity and softness. It’s about maintaining curiosity. Loads of people have called me as someone having the spirit of a child. What some call a childlike spirit, I see as neuroplasticity, the ability to keep exploring and adapting. To age well is to stay open.”

How do you see your work evolving?

“I see my work moving towards community and shared regulation through experiences.I believe the future of wellness lies in collective experiences blending sound, movement, art, and cognitive stimulation to support memory, coordination, and long-term brain health. I don’t predict where it will go. I let it unfold.”

What advice would you give for cultivating rituals that nourish both the body and the soul?

“I believe small actions shape nervous system beliefs. The brain constantly looks for evidence of what we think we deserve. Every choice sends a message: “I am cared for” or “I am surviving”. So I return to this question: What is one small act today that tells your nervous system you are already chosen?”
