How to choose your blush?

5 tips on how to apply blush like a pro?

1. Whether it's powder, cream or liquid, the first rule of thumb when applying blush is to apply very little first. It's best to work the product in as much as possible, then add more if necessary. If there's too much, it's always a little trickier to blend it in afterwards.

2. If the blush is powder, remove the excess on the brush by tapping (on the lid for example). If the blush is a cream blush, use a brush or your fingers to pick up the material. Then, blend a little material on the back of your hand before applying to the cheekbones.

3. Apply according to the desired effect:

For a natural "healthy glow" effect: apply a round blush to the centre of the cheekbone, using gentle circular movements with a brush, or directly with your finger for a cream blush. If the shade is peach/apricot, apply a touch on the bridge of the nose for an even more natural look.

For a more structured effect: between the cheekbone and the "hollow" of the cheek, lengthening the shape.

“In case of localised redness on the nose and cheeks, apply the blush without getting too close to the nose to avoid making the redness stand out”.

4. Blend the product by tapping or using small circular movements. For a perfect finish, use a foundation brush or your concealer brush to soften the contours. The more the material is worked, the more natural the result.

5. For a luminous and natural look, add a little highlighter with your finger or brush, towards the top of the cheekbone, or even subtly blend it in towards the temples.

Powder, cream, liquid... Which blush for which result?

Powder blush for a satin finish

Universal, it can be applied with a brush and is suitable for all skin types without exception. It is ideal if you want a satin finish without being too shiny. It can therefore be a good option for combination to oily skin that fears shine, and is fairly easy to apply.

Cream blush for a glowy finish

Excellent for dehydrated skin because it often contains vegetable oils or beeswax, this product can be a real skincare. Its application is very intuitive, with a finger or a brush, and fuses with the skin. The advantage is that it can also be used on the lips and eyes.

Liquid blush for a glowy or matte finish

Its finish varies greatly depending on the reference used. Often much more pigmented, it is necessary to know how to dose it well and above all, to work it quickly because it penetrates very quickly. For this reason, we prefer to reserve it for those who are more used to it, even if it has the advantage of being very long-lasting during the day.

Oops, this is too much blush!

You can correct this by going over the affected area with your brush or foundation sponge (ideally, if there is still some foundation on it), in order to blend the material as much as possible.

I have redness and/or small pimples, can I use blush without making them stand out?

Don't ban blush, it would be a shame not to add that little extra "healthy glow"! Don't ban pink shades either: if you've worked on your complexion beforehand and concealed what you want to hide with a concealer, a touch of pink won't stand out. If you're still worried about redness showing through, choose a peachy/apricot shade. However, we do not recommend shades that are too orange: they are too far from your skin tone and will not give a very natural look…

Did you know?

Pink blushes are actually suitable for all skin tones: you just need to find the right shade. A rosewood for light to medium shades, a darker violet (or even flashy) pink for medium, matte to dark skin tones.
