Face Taping, the anti-ageing remedy to reduce wrinkle

Face taping is the beauty trend everyone’s talking about—and for good reason. This natural lifting technique has gained a loyal following for its ability to smooth and firm the skin. If you’ve spotted Lyfta’s face-lift patches on our shelves recently, you’ll know we’re just as intrigued by this method and its benefits.

What is Face Taping?

Face Taping may be the latest trend on social networks, but it has been around for several years. In fact, taping was developed by the chiropractor Kenzo Kase in the 1970s, and for a long time was reserved for chiropractors and physiotherapists to relax muscles, relieve pain and speed up muscle recovery, particularly for top-level athletes. Today, many beauty addicts swear by this technique in an attempt to prevent and, above all, reduce wrinkles. The method involves applying specially created lifting strips to the areas of the face you want to lift (forehead wrinkles, nasolabial folds, crow's feet, etc.) to compress the facial muscles and limit their repeated contraction.

How does it work?

Lifting strips target expression lines caused by facial movements and act indirectly on static wrinkles caused by skin ageing. They mainly freeze the top layer of skin. Like a massage, each movement will move the tissues underneath to generate permanent stimulation and improve muscle tone by eliminating tension. They work to :

  • Smooth wrinkles by ‘pulling’ the skin slightly to reduce creases in areas such as the forehead, crow's feet and nasolabial folds.

  • Stimulate blood and lymph circulation to help decongest the face, especially around the cheeks and jawline.

  • Support the muscles by encouraging a relaxed muscular posture and preventing certain tensions responsible for expression lines.

The benefits of face-lift patches

Face Taping promises a natural facelift, provided it is carried out properly. This technique combats sagging skin, reduces expression lines and decongests the face and eyes, leaving the skin looking younger and more radiant. It is particularly recommended as a preventive treatment for skin that is still firm but prone to the first wrinkles. However, it is important to note that lifting patches are not a substitute for a well-ageing routine designed to protect and strengthen the skin.

To optimise the benefits, combine face taping with a facial massage like our Plumping Treatment  and/or the use of gua sha tools.

The Oh My Cream Skincare Plumping Treatment

Inspired by the advanced techniques of Kobido massage, our Plumping Treatment is an illuminating and invigorating massage that restores plumped-up skin and a fresh complexion. How to use lifting patches correctly

Face Taping is a simple method that requires precise and regular application to maximise its benefits:

Step 1: Prepare your skin by making sure it is clean and dry before applying the strips. If you have applied a moisturiser, wait about fifteen minutes before applying the patches.

Step 2: Apply the strips to the targeted areas, following the facial muscles. Apply the strips gently without pulling on the skin.

Step 3: Leave the patches on overnight, then remove them gently to avoid the risk of irritation.

Step 4: Apply your usual skincare routine to moisturise and soothe your skin.

It's best to do this in the evening before going to bed to maximise the application time, and of course to apply the patches to cleansed, moisturised skin. You can also leave the patches on during the day for a minimum of 1.5 hours before removing them.

However, be careful not to carry out more than two or three Face Taping sessions a week, to allow your skin to rest.
