Meet Professor Augustinus Bader, founder of the anti-ageing holy grail

You've dedicated more than 30 years of your career to studying regenerative medicine. What inspired you to pursue this specialization?

“In the early years of practising medicine, I travelled to China to work with burn victims at the Ruijin Hospital in Shanghai. The doctor's techniques at this Burn Center were considerably more advanced than in Europe at that time. Although I was impressed by the survival rate of patients, it was shocking to see the immense trauma, suffering, and accompanying scar formation the patients experienced. Following this experience, I thought about how to improve these types of treatment. My desire to eliminate the life-long suffering of children and the trauma of disfiguring burns drove me to spend years researching a treatment that would provide scar-free healing. I became a specialist in tissue engineering, which was the starting point of my interest in the regenerative capabilities of stem cells. “

How did your research enable you to create the patented complex found in all your products, the TFC8®?

“I developed 'TFC8®', a novel transporting after many years of researching the regenerative capabilities of stem cells; I began to understand how the body healed itself in conditions of trauma and inflammation. My research findings were the basis for the creation of the first trial of the Trigger Factor Complex (TFC1), developed for a medical-grade hydrogel that has the potential to repair large traumatic wounds without the need for skin grafting. The complexity of applying medical technology to consumer skin care was situational. The hydrogel came from a situation where we had wounds with open skin in a clinical setting. Changing the approach for intact skin was complicated as it has to navigate the body's natural healing code differently.”

You've accumulated over 105 global industry awards in just four years, and been named the "Greatest Skincare of All Time". Why was it essential for you to receive this recognition?

“When we were voted the "Greatest Skincare of All Time," we were only a three-year-old brand. It was incredibly positive to be recognized by our peers, and proof of concept that our ambitious plans aren't too crazy. This was a massive endorsement of what we have achieved as a brand. They weren't judging the best marketing campaign but the best skincare product. Today, our number one asset remains our product.”
